I am looing for a web based email with the following features :

    1. Am able to port across my own domain name
    2. Preferrably 1gb of space but not essential
    3. Excellent spam filters and virus checker

But from what I can tell you end up with an email address of username@gmail.com. But I want to use my own domain.

Aha I see what you want.

Get a domain with email forwarding from www.123reg.com and forward it to your gmail account, you then have a nice yourname@yourdomain.com with a gig of storage for pretty much nowt.

Thanks done it. I already had a gmail account and already had my domain with 1&1. Hadnt thought of just forwarding the address to gmail (feeling really stupid right now !).

I had web hosting with 1&1 but was no longer using it - just using it for email hosting so was looking for a cheaper option. But now I am just going to degrade my package with 1&1 to domain parking only and forward my email.
