external drive

i was wondering if anyone could give some advice about an external hard drive ?

i have an external freecom cd/rw and want to mod it to take a hard drive instead ie take the cd/rw out and put my own hd into it .

it has its own power supply and runs on usb 2

just wondering if anyone has tried this or can point me in the right direction

should be fairly straight forward, providing both writer and hard drive are ide then simply de install the writer and install a 3.5 inch hard drive format the drive and that would be job done, judy put a blanking plate on the front of the case.

It will get a little hot when its been on for a while so maby a few air holes in the back might help. hth mrgump

Alternatively u should be able 2 get u'reself a new usb2 HD jacket for about 30 quid instead of goin 2 all the trouble of modifying u're existing setup.

already done fitted a double fan blank on the front and runs like a dream , had a look at the cases ,but as i already had this it done the job
