Unlocking Cell Phone coverage on ICOM PCR-1000

If I buy an ICOM PCR-1000 off eBay and it comes from the USA, it will have had its coverage of cellphone frequencies blocked. Does anyone know what the procedure is to unblock? Units sold everywhere else in the world come unblocked - it's just cheaper to buy one in the US. I have read that the procedure requires replacing a resistor or two.

Hi M8,
why do you want to unblock the cell phone coverage, there is not anything on there here in uk. all cell phones are digital now. the days of listening to mobile phones has long gone. and i think it will be sometime before a radio is made cheap enough to listen to the digital phones of today. leonard.
