Video editing help needed

Hey all, if this is not allowed in here can somebody please move it, i wasnt sure where to put it............

right, i recently took a vhs movie with some old cine 8mm clips of old family days gone by and transfered it to dvd, adding music to it etc. I did this using windows movie maker and tmpgenc. i showed it to the family and it was ok, but some of them reckoned i should change some of the music, si thought no probs i'll just re-do it using the same saved project in windows movie maker, only i had deleted it, the original vhs tape is on its way back to a land afar, so im pretty much left with the dvd i created. :nono WHEW, right heres the question :nowords: can i take this dvd i have now and remove the music and put some new music on etc......so basically re-edit it before burning back to dvd again, if so can some kind soul please explain what tool i should use and a couple of suggestions to get me on my way.....

i'd really appreciate any help, i've promised everyone i'd have this ready before i next visit them and that time is drawing near..

is there a sound track on the dvd aswell as the music?

if so then it wont be possible

i only added music to it in windows media player, the original source had no sound at all, as it was recorded from the "very" old cine 8mm movies, there is no narration on it either...........is this enough info???

search on google for vdubmod its free

load the dvd into that and deselect the soundtrack (its under streams) then save the video only

you can then generate a new soundtrack (make sure its the same length or over)

and remux it on usinf tmpg, tmpg dvd source creator, mainconcept mpeg encoder or vdub mod and reauthour the disc with your authouring software.

a quick alternative would be to rip the dvd to your hard drive with dvd decrypter thn load the dvd into tmpg dvd author and tell it to get the soundtrack from a different file (must be in .wav format) use dbpoweramp music converter to create the wav from mp3's, that should work too.

thanks for both of ur answers guys, appreciate it.....................before i read ur answer i had a thought, would it be at all possible for me to get just the video file back so that i could load it into windows movie maker again. its just that im quite familiar with it now, and i would like to be able to load certain songs when certain clips on the video starts. so basically, can i get the video file from the dvd into a suitable format that WMM will recognize? or then again, am i just looking for the easy way out (i dont know too much about all these fancy encoding/decoding and ripping tools)
