Default Interference On Phone Line With ADSL

    Right, I've got a problem

I think it's my microfilter, but was wondering if someone could possiboly confirm...
If my phone rings and I answer it, it knocks off my ADSL and it sometimes looses sync.... I can then hear on the line, the very high pitched "modem dial" sounds (only very quietly and very high [adsl uses higher freqs!]). The modem will not then connect till I come off the phone.

Would it be wise to geta new filter?

    In a word, Yes.
Make sure that every device in the house that is connected to your phone line has a filter as well (eg, Fax, Sky, etc).

Alternatively you could fit a new faceplate at your master socket and do away with the dangly seperate filters on every extension.

    Hi,

I had exactly the same, and it turned out to be a faulty filter (supplied by our good friends Freeserve - as they were then).

It was a bit of a problem isolating which one, but as soon as I swapped it out (with one from Solwise), I was away.

Opened the duff one up, and there was a solder bridge (had obviously been well tested). Cleared the bridge and that filter is now OK too.

    Hope you get it sorted.

    Regards,

    White.
