unchipped/unopeded virgin xbox not booting!!

Hi guys,
Someone has asked me to look at an xbox,which isnt chipped,has never been opened or has had any dodgy games played on it(WHAT A WASTE in my opinion).Anyway when you press the boot up button on the front the led flashes green the fan kicks in then stops.This happens twice,then on the third attempt the led flashes red and orange.No startup screen appears on the tv so there is no error message to read.
Any ideas as to what the problem could be for starters??

hi mate, the fan stops almost right away, my guess would be power supply, it's a start

can you open the dvd drive ?

Yes mate the dvd drives opens ok.Like I say it starts to boot,stops,starts again,stops then again each time the fan starts and stops until the third time where it carries on and the led flashes red and orange.

phone M$
i bought a faulty one that was out of warranty, phoned them up and 5 days later it was back with a new DVD Drive and Motherboard free of charge

not the power supply then, doubt it is gonna be the hard drive either, so you are left with dvd and motherboard:nowords:

orange flashing indicates a video error, could be anything along those lines, faulty scart cable, blown gpu, i have had this same error happen to me and a few others have had it on here, i coudnt get a fix sadly, the MS route seems the best
