    Default pass/fail MOT?

Will a car or should a car with a rear windscreen wiper that doesn't work pass its MOT?

Should be fine. Its not law to have one, and its not like reverse lights, where you dont have to have one, but if you do it must work, since a rear wiper isnt a warning etc to other drivers.

not looking forward to mot time for my car lol

You must complete an appeal form (VT17) obtainable from any MOT testing station or by calling the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), on 0845 600 5977. Completed forms need to be returned to VOSA within 14 working days of the test along with a full test fee. VOSA will then offer an appointment within 5 working days to recheck your vehicle. If your appeal is successful some or all of the test fee will be refunded to you. Do not have your vehicle repaired before your appeal is considered, as any change to your vehicle may affect the outcome of the appeal.

Its not that its failed - quite the opposite. Friend bought new car with new MOT and there's a few probs - if it shouldn't have passed the MOT this could be used as leverage.

That would not cause an MOT failure, if tested at all, would be an advisory.

    Cheers

    Attention Re: pass/fail MOT?

Rear wiper is not a testable item on the mot, therefore does not need to work.
If it isn't tested, it is pointless the tester seeing if it works as no benefit.
