    Default TFT Monitors ...which one

I'm looking at getting a 15" TFT monitor for less than £200 , but I don 't want to spend that amount of money and end up with a screen with dead pixels on , I am told they are allowed up to 2 dead pixels before the screen can be replaced but i am sure having just one would cheese me off , so which monitors have you all got that ain't got any dead pixels , any recommendations , I went to a couple of shops and asked them to power on the monitor before I bought it , one wouldn't test the screen and the other wanted a tenner for doing so .....
    Cheers

The "allowable" amount of dead pixels (which will be more than two) on a TFT screen is down to a combination of screen size, where the dead pixels are on the screen, and what the manufacturer considers to be acceptable.

Some manufacturers (like Philips) will offer a "zero dead pixel" warranty on the high end monitors, but they certainly don't offer this at the bottom end of the range (eg, the sub £200 bracket).

I've got a Samsung 'Syncmaster' (191T, it's a 19.1") TFT, and I've been really pleased with it. Definately a lot easier on the eyes than CRT screens (although I run my CRT screen in a dual monitor configuration, for both extra workspace and also faster FPS games).

I think it's been covered elsewhere on the board, but if you do get a monitor with an irritating (more than 0?) amount of dead pixels, then reject it under the Distance Selling Regulations (DSR) within 7 days.
