    Default Soft modding Xbox

    Hi guys,

A friend of mine is soft modding my xbox soon, and I would like to know other peoples opinions on this method?

I have looked up various tutorials and am i right in thinking the worst case scenario is a clock loop problem? Does anyone know if these are common using a fonts style exploit?

The xbox will be used a present for my lad so don't want it playing up crimbo morrning

    Thanks..!

Not 100% sure but this might stop you from using Live completely.
I'd feel better using a chip with a switch. I guess it would be fine if you have no intension of using Live.
I'm sure someone else here will be able to give you a definite answer.

CaptainRizla is correct. This method would prevent you from using live. I have a soft modded box and a box with an X2.2pro. I find that they both work really well and have the same performance. I am not interested in using live so I do not have a problem with my current setup. If live is a concern than you would need a chip which can be disabled.

I soft modded my xbox a few months ago (15minute job) and totally recommend it. Have a look at a few tutorials but the main idea is:

    • Download one of the save game exploits for 007AUF or Splinter Cell or Mech Assualt (You must own the original).

    • Copy the savegame to a memory card then to xbox hd (by means of an Action Replay/Home made cable)

    • Download either the font exploit or the audio exploit.

    • Start your 007Auf/SC/Mech Assualt and load the hacked save game. You now have Evo X running which gives you ftp access to the xbox harddisk.

    • Ftp either the font/audio exploit to xbox HD. Plus replacement dashboardds etc.

    • Now a Xbox capable of playing backups and homebrew utils and software.

I went for the audio exploit as you cannot get the clock loop problem. Basically the normal ms dash loads then when you hit a key combination (from the music menu - hacked soundtrack causes bufferoverflow) then your chosen dashboard loads.

Hope this has been of some/any help.

Also Live will work fine with the Audio exploit as long as you own the orignal game! Just start the xbox but don't load the audio exploit.

Not worth the hassle when you can get a decent modchip (Duo X 2) for as little as £13!

Just whack a modchip in and be done with it

Ive tried both methods the big advantage of the soft mod option is just that its "soft" therefore if you remove and clean up your hd you still have your warranty

in saying that I am going to recommend an xecutor chip from someone reliable like baldbouncer. Mainly because you can play live swap hard drive easier and theres no worry of m$ patching their dashboard
