I'm running the latest version they have for download off their site and it works fine. I never had to change anything to get it to work. What writer/firmware are you using? Maybe that is the issue...

    LG DSA-4040B dvd writer...doesn't love the mini's

it picks up that they are there and they have a file size, I just cant burn the ISO's onto the discs...how frustrating. Also I know ebob and fe_man have both done exactly what i'm doing. With the same software, same disc and probably even the very same files

    grr

ok i've updated my drives firmware to the best one I can have for it, it even said it had compatibility sorted for some mini dvd-r. It still doesnt work!

nero just gives that error as above,
alcohol 120 reckons the damn thing is a CD
dvd decrypter didn't even recognise the image
primoDVD just looked like it was never gonna do it.

I belive this problem is fixable but i'll be fooked if I can work it out! I've got the ISO in nero and made a NRG out of it and then tried to burn that in nero and alcohol, still getting the same errors. Although alcohol did recognise it as a dvd image now, which helped, it just said the image was too big, even with overburn on it didnt do any difference.

Is there a way to disable to space message? or instead can someone tell me the exact size in bytes their mini dvd-r are reported in nero or whatever? I'm totally baffled by all of this, it seemed so simple in theory!

and it's a good job biggo dvd-rs are working as at least I can play, I just want the case back on as i'll end up breaking it all i'm sure.

    edit:

how does anyone burn any image to these discs? evilbob and fe_man200 you must be doing something different to me :\

are you patching your images with fstfix before burning?
do all your images report they are too big to be burnt?

Just a note there. I don't patch any images and nero never reports the images being too big

nope, they are NG releases straight from the source

not patched any of the images, they are all normal ISOs I feel like I am doing exactly the same as you but have bad results

I do too, i've emailed LG andI reckon i'll never get a response as there website is very bad, links sent me everywhere bar where I wanted to go grrr.

i've looked for firmware patches and no1 has had my problem.

i'm guessing i'm the only person documented to have ever had this problem with my burner, and I dont reckon they'll be releasing a firmware to fix my specific problem any time soon.

I'm gonna have to get another burner I think, probably a pioneer and I have no cash,,,i'm a bit gutted by it all!

edit: or I could just get different media,,,but that could be a waste of cash too, espeically if I have to get memorex at £6 for 5

looking back i'm still confused as to why my burner gave me 300K less space than I needed but to rectify my happyness i've gone for some memorx mini dvd-r which I believe are good quality and I saw an offer on ebay I could miss - 20 for £22

    fingers crossed!

btw to get this back on topic...(sorry to the original poster)

WARNING TO EVERYONE. Amazon.co.uk have changed their memorex pocket dvd-r. The box says 'Mini DVD-R' as opposed to 'Pocket DVD-R'- this isn't writen on the amazon webpage. The new 5pack boxes uses a different dye NOT ritek and doesn't work on Gamecubes.

Anyone know where you can cheaply buy ritek pocket dvd-r?

yeah seen that site before, it's got good prices but shipping is always a stinger.

I was also wondering if you get taxed for these on import?

I use full sized disks that are CMC dye with no problems at all. They were dirt cheap too, £7.50 for 50 from ess vee pee ! The Tango disks.
