    Default [PSP] Infected

The details you are about to read have not been approved by this news outlet. We have lost contact with our command center. Engineers had been working on repairing the uplink, but they are all dead as well. I don't know if any of you will ever even read this -- we are reporting live, from the scene of an outbreak. We will continue to break the news, as we can, from this direct connection to the live server ... it's chaos. I don't know how else to describe it. What began at Planet Moon Studios as a game has now become an epidemic called Infected. Currently, we do not have many details. What we do know is that the publishing entity know as Majesco entered into an exclusive three-game deal with the gaming company Planet Moon Studios for titles to play on the new PlayStation Portable. At the time, both partners were very excited for the prospects of their creation ... if only they knew the horror that would be to come.

    • "Infected will certainly be 'socially communicable' in that victorious players can wirelessly invade their opponents PSP systems and spread their unique virus literally around the world ... This type of compelling game play is further enhanced by allowing players to check their ranking against other players, as well as see just how far their virus has spread."
That was what Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco, had to say early this morning about Infected. This was before Mr. Gold's test exposure went horribly, horribly wrong.

Bob Stevenson of Planet Moon Studios was heard to have said that Infected was designed to, "take full advantage of the power of the PSP system." Unfortunately, the power of this PlayStation Portable system proved to be much more powerful than anybody expected. Its massive processing power and intense ocular and aural mechanisms supercharged the virus designed for amusement purposes.

Mr. Stevenson of Planet Moon is now considered the greatest threat to humanity on planet Earth. Due to these circumstances, he cannot be reached for further comment.

What was once a harmless game of "Pass The Cooties" has now mutated into a killer virus that causes human beings to become rampaging, maniacal and insatiable beings. There is no cure. The infected will be dangerous, voracious, and relentless. And once this breaks out of the containment of these walls at Majesco, Infected will undeniably infect the entire world this Fall.

Experts are advising that the only known resistance method for this disease is to secure a copy of the game itself, which will by that time will have transmuted itself into an antibody for the host victim's affliction. Infected will contain a necessary dose of WiFi multiplay, avatar player creation, and ultra-violent bloodletting for combating the disease. Planet Moon Studios has patented methods of levity and jocularity, and is expected to infuse the title with these as well.

Plenty of ammunition will be provided inside the videogame package, as it has been discovered that the blood from the immune will cause infected humans to violently explode if injected. An Officer Stevens of the New York City police department (where the initial Infected outbreak is expected to take place) has been identified as one of the immune. One Dr. Schaeffer has invented a projectile that will fire this immunity blood into the diseased and rampaging bodies -- weapons that can be used single or double-handedly will be part of the final release. D.r Schaeffer is working on more powerful "viral guns" in his laboratory, and those who plan on surviving this event are advised to make use of fire spreading and air strike abilities as well. Chaining hits of infection detonation, while undeniably grotesque, will help to thin out masses of assaulting maniacs, and will also lift the spirits of virus fighters with its morbid but fantastic display of showering viscera. We will be following the story of Officer Stevens as it progresses.

Once you have obtained the Infected UMD, your life will be in constant danger -- open sockets to other PSPs will allow any Infected user to "infect" the opponent's PSP system with their own personal player avatar virus, taking back valuable points and leaving behind traces of 'suckitdownitis' for the overcome PSP user. These infecting avatar viruses are not just mere amalgamations of wins and losses -- they will be living, breathing entities, which the infected player may spread to other systems in a viral outbreak. Clans are forming to engage in team matches to combat avatar infection and spread their unique avatar epidemic, but standard matches to the death are also bound to break out amongst citizens. The spread of infection will continue on as more and more players become 'Pwned.'

We will have more on this virulent title as eminent Fall release nears, and will attempt to get word from those close to the project at Planet Moon Studios and Majesco, provided that they survive their own creation.

Those infected by Infected will initially appear to be overwrought and irrational, unresponsive at times and at others irrepressible, but at all times nonsensical, with bloodshot eyes and a tendency towards aggression or violence. Until the infected enter the final phase and begin their rampage, there is no known way of distinguishing these from regular Americans.
