Default Transfering to Xbox from PC Via FTP - Speeds/Time

hey guys, i have been told that transfering like the way the title suggests is not that time consuming...

i used 1 prog to extract a iso straight to the xbox hd and it was running almost 2 hours and still had not finsihed, i then ripped it to my hd and tried transfering it like that, same thing im only getting up to around 90kb/s but it drops down to bout 10kb/s most of the time...

    surely something must be wrong...

the LAN says im connected at 100mbs. anyone got any thoughs or views on this?

its looking like its more worthwhile for me to burn the games, but that defeats the point of the harddrive etc in the xbox.

once again, loads of karma to whoever helps me out! :thumbs

With Qwix and Avalaunch average about 8000kb/s, with FlashFxp and Evox it's nearer 4000kb/s

You don't run any bandwith monitoring restricting softwrae do you for your internet connection?

use a pre made prog to do it.. taking hours as i said...

use INTERNET EXPLORER... yes IE... took less than 10 minutes lmao.

transfered a 1gb in a few seconds... rediculous lol..

Spencer - I had exactly the same problem - and I started using IE instead to fix it whihc works well - I recently changed to using a ADSLmodem/router which my xbox is wired to one port and my pc to another and I can now FTP with any program no problem - using FlasFXP at the moment 10mb a sec.

    cheers

Personally i always burn to disc then transfer it via the DVD drive.

Takes a bit longer but 20p for a back up isnt bad value.

I do as well as I like a copy on DVDR to keep safe, but FTPing movies to the box when I want to take them somwhere or Xbox apps etc you need a good FTP speed.

To be honest I think my hard drive is on the slow side and it physically can't read the data any quicker.

All this talk of ftp from Xbox to PC and I am now wondering, though I have zip experience of this as I don't own one, can you not use native ftp from a command prompt?

That's amazing, I've never met anybody yet who can make both their X-Box & PC network cards exceed physical limitations :nowords:

I get around 5000 max with flashfxp, but one day it will run 5500, next 3000 I find that if I turn on my box after opening flash, it will run quicker too, fook knows why though. If yours works full speed on IE, try reinstalling it, and when u do, do a search for "flashfxp" and delete any remaining config files or keys etc, that might be why it configures and runs so slow...

hes wrong, theres nothing to start

these are the facts, 100megabits = 12,500 kilobytes

and on top of that ive been working with pcs/electronics and what ever else i repair for at least 10 years and supplying tech support in forums for years.

also thats not including that i can just post a screenshot showing me get those speeds and that i get them everytime i transfer movies to my xbox.

but id rather see an attempt at saying im wrong before doing so.

A semi trained lab rat can divide 100 by 8 to get the magic figure of 12,500Kbytes, but are you seriously trying to tell us that you can cram all the headers & footers in to a mere 500K and still leave room for the ACK packets to get back quickly enough?

Come on, there is no way you are getting 100% throughput and ANYBODY who has ever networked a PC will tell you the same.

and would you like a screenshot too?
I can put a screenie up showing anything I want it to, why not show us a video instead?

just moved house so figures were off top of my head, just dug out my xbox from boxes etc and recorded a video showing a pretty consistent 11,390 or so.

give me somewhere to host it and its yours to view.

also, i like how all your arguement is from the top end figure too, because if you take the lower one (you know because i posted a range as xbox has been packed away for a while now, if i knew the EXACT speed i wouldnt of posted a range) then the space for headers etc has just doubled from 500k to 1,000

but anyway, considering xbox wasnt set up i was pretty close and video shows its about 600K away from the top end figure you like quoting so much.

PM has been sent with details of where you can upload your video

I take it this video you are sending will actually be a full length one that shows the transfers from the time you started the upload until the time it was completed?
