theres rumours that nintendo may realse a new Gameboy machine in the next year or so but i dont really think they will, the original GB had about a 10 year run before the GBA came out so i think we have a fair few years of GBA yet
A portable GC would be great, since the disks are so small they would be perfect for a handheld version.

I did hear this and if you search this forum you will find some info about Nintendo's plans from last year sometime.

I think the DS was/is more of a Gimmick but the new Console (should it happen) is along the lines of a proper gaming machine i.e Gamecube which will no doubt kick ass of any other poor competition (i.e. PSP) out there.

Again it was just a rumour but so was the DS

There are rumours that the Nintendo Revolution won't be compatible with the DS, but rather the Nintendo "Gameboy Revolution" instead... http://www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=7373

I've heard rumors about a GBE (Game Boy Evolution) coming out next year.. but I doubt its true. It wouldn't make much sense for Nintendo to release another GB that quick unless the DS started to not sell well.

The DS does not have the title of Gameboy although we know it take the games. I think the DS is a stop gap Gimmick but will last a few years.

The DS is not in the GB family, fact. Nintendo are working on a new GB, soon to be announced but this won't make the DS defunct, it's got plenty of life in it yet. I heard the DS will be compatible with the "Revolution", but only time will tell.

I questioned Nintendo not so long ago and all they told me was to wait for E3...
