    Help Well? PSP or DS?

Ok, Ok. Sh!t post but I need the advise.
I've the cash for a PSP or a DS but not both.

To all you folks who are lucky enough to own both what do you think? I'll end up getting both in the long run but what would I be better off getting first? I'm doing a lot of traveling for work at the moment and need some entertainment for the 'plane.

    Cheers,

    Wullie

look at the games available and decide which you would rather play, i personally could afford both but there isnt really anythin i want to play on the PSP yet, i love the Wario touch game so i ordered that and a DS.

It is a little early to chose i guess, in 6 months time youll find alot more choice. As usual with any nintendo machine your gonna get less mainstream games and more of the more unusual and original games (mainly due to its touch screen), just depends on your personal choice in games.

i'd love to have both but i'm a gta slut. As soon as the previews look good for it i'm saving up for a psp.

The DS does sound great too, and i love nintendo games on a whole to any other system. However i think the psp will have just a few titles that will be great, for me anyway.

I think in the future i'll hopefully have them both though
    I'm new to this

I'd have to say PSP. I've got both here and PSP wins hands-down, the DS feels cheap, the screen isn't as nice or big, controlling the games with a pen is a pain in the ass, it needs an analogue stick. And at the end of the day you want a console with good games, and tbh, my DS gets very little usage compared to the PSP. WHen i'm sat there thinking waht shall I play, it's the PSP that wins EVERY TIME.

Get both if you can, but be prepared to be somewhat dissapointed by the DS

Thanks for all the advise chaps!
PSP arrived today and it is the mutts...

I will get the DS but I'll wait for the UK release and a price drop.
I love Nintendo but I think Sony are going to win this one.

sony will no doubt "win" this battle between psp and ds, although both machines are aimed at a slightly different markets and i think alot of people will opt to own both. nintendo cant sell their consoles in the same league as sony, bullish marketing techniques are what rooted the playstation name into everyones brain

and thats all apart from it being a far far better product

ds = kids toy, average design, averagely good games

psp = adults toy, fabulous design, fabulous games, so many present/future possibilities (movies/web/pda/mp3 etc)

completely different bits of kit, both have their targets. I dont think they should be compared at all.

I've yet to see anyone who has a psp AND ds say they would pick up their ds 1st, just not gonna happen. Its easy to blame sonys marketing prowess for the psp success (or otherwise) but what people need to realise is its also a really really special bit of kit, no matter what badge it has on it.

well the opinion of which is better is always going to be an opinion and in my opinion, i like the DS. no-one makes better games than nintendo and you only gonna get them on a nintendo console.

sony could market a way inferior product and still win a marketing battle, they managed to see off the dreamcast before the PS2 was even released with their promise of broadband over 56k on the DC and that took em about 4 years to realise even in its current half baked form.

whats stopping the DS from doin pda/mp3/movies (already a movie adapter thing on the way) etc, if i wanted those features id have bought a pda or an mp3 player, i bought my handheld to play games on, not to watch a movie on a 4 inch screen

I like the DS too, thats not the issue

Yes, you will only get nintendo games on a nintendo console, a good reason to own a DS.. however the statement that no one makes better games than nintendo is just pure fanboy pish. Nintendo make good classical type games, so do others.

this thread was (wrongly imo) psp vs ds, not sony vs gaming - i still say judge the console on its merits - not cos you have some prejudice against the badge !

theres nothing to stop it doing it, it just wont do it very well. PSP does alot of this out of the box, the wireless works properly, the screen and the rest of the kit are up to the job. I bought ds to play games, i bought psp to play games. I'm happy with the ds games. I'm happy with the psp games. I'm DELIGHTED that i can also play mp3's, video on the psp without any extra adaptors. Not a bad little extra eh ? With firmware updates the possibilities are almost endless

i dont have time for your mindess bantering anymore malt, heh, ive gotto go out and beat people up who disagree with me, ill just say i am not anti sony in anyway and i love the PS2 over the xbox anyday (for the games that is) similarly with the xbox/ps2 and the PSP/DS gibberish, i like the PS2 for its exclusive and inovative titles such as Katamari Damacy and Its extensive line of RPGs, once titles like this appear on the PSP then ill be rubbing one with my love soap
