Free Online Translator:

Hi all,

Firstly I thought that this would be the best section for the Online Translator as it's a 'Free' service.

Secondly, I know there are loads of these out there but I have recently sold items to Spanish/Geerman etc... folks on Ebay who dont speak a word of English! (How Dare They!!!

).

Anyhow someone pointed me in the direction of http://babel.altavista.com/ it is very fast, very easy to use and very free!

If you don't use it for Online Trading like I have been, maybe you can use it to find out swear words lol.

Thanks for the link Goldberg. I recently repied to an email to a list of people in different countries, mostly German, and added a translation done with Google language tools. One couple thanked me for the reply, said the translation had given them the best laugh in years, obviously Google mangles the text, so this can only be better.

Another translator can be found at http://www.paralink.com/ims/ , this runs in the system tray and can copy the translation to the clipboard automatically, saving a few clicks along the way.

Fantastic. Think i'll compare the 2 to see what results I get.

One of the guy's in Spain thanked me for replying in Spanish so I take it the one I posted must be good. although Laptop translates back from spanish as 'The Portable one' ? lol

http://babel.altavista.com/ this is great. My all the students on language courses use it (well the ones i know do at bath uni).

It does rely on decent spelling though.
