i probably wouldnt other using the autinstaller disks now, they put some unnecessary apps onto your box.

i got one made by GlennCook when i got my xbrick chipped which helped me out loads when i first started messing around with it but now it is just as easy to prepare and install the most uptodate software yourself

I disagree. What could be eaiser than an autoinstaller - you just then remove or update anything you dont want after - it not like the apps take up much room or slow anything down. Just my opinion.

I've just tried the 'Beat of Angels' installer. It put Unleash as the dashboard (you do get a choice) and I have to say it has an awesome skin on it. There's a music video playing as the background. I've not seen the box do this before (I use xbmc as my dash). Pretty nice, plus it had all the latest bits and pieces on it. And like Ironman says you can easily delete what you don't want.

i'm happy with good old Slayers. Used 2.5 on my old HD and used 2.6 on my new HD. Dead easy and removing any unwanted apps etc is a piece of piss.

Auto-installers Suck! They install loads of naff you don't need and will never use!!

The Latest XBMC is all thats needed :thumbs Then just learn how to config the XML's and you can do anything you want.

Numptys may need hdloader or dvd2xbox installed but they should just learn how to copy stuff with XBMC's files option as it's actually extremly easy.

XMBC's files option doesn't patch the xbe file in case it has device protection like dvd2xbox does though.

Fair point I didn't know that as all my games are obtained from the newsgroups which 99% of the time come pre-patched and the ones that are not can be patched on the Fly when FTP'ing.

O.K XBMC + DVD2Xbox is all you need (maybe the NTSC-PAL switchmode thing but having said that I have only ever had 1 NTSC game that has needed the Enigma switchmode and I have shed loads of NTSC games! )

X disc is the daddy, you dont have to install eveything you can choose the option to install just the apps you want, it also has all the dashs, skins etc and loads of other tricks up its sleave which you may need at some point.

This auto installer is all down to end user requirements / preference.

I basically, don't like to mess too much with my Xbox. Whether it's from the mod chip point of view or hdd. The cleaner the BIOS the better from a testing point of view! I was gutted when my Enigmah-X Beta Mod died as it was a lot harder for testing media fixes and signature patching afterwards. Of course X-Tender 1.0 was probably the cleanest BIOS.

As for replacement dashboards and utils... only tools I require for testing, would be the Enigmah-X Video Mode Selector for import games with Region checks and possibly the the DVD Region X player, although I own a stand a lone DVD Player anyways.

The Slayer Auto install does seem to go overboard on tools it installs and in the wrong hands, I'm sure some soft daft sod, will probably kill their Xbox.

DVD2XBOX... ha, it uses a patching method based on my ADR Patcher program, personally, I can fix my own stuff when required but I never run from hdd, I stick to DVDR Media.

If I was going for a replacement dash, I would probably go for User Interface X as it looks quite a lot like the original M$ dash.

disagree, auto-installers have their place if people simply want to get the stuff on their xbox as simply as possible without the need to learn various processes to do it then why call them numptys, unfair comment, if they want to learn how to config the files later that is up to them. as said befor fire****ers is the one i used, i don't mess with the box just want to get stuff on the drive and enjoy, so what's wrong with that. whenyou install a new sound card, printer, graphics card, or any other device do you use the auto installer (drivers) or do you write your own for every device :nowords:
:kissass  Hmm I wonder which 3 this is ????

Auto installers have proved invaluable to the peeople that just wanna play games etc after chipping their machines.

Originally used slayers, then went on to fire****, xbox-hq autoinstaller and the last one used tHC. Out of the 4 used tHC being the better in my opinion.
