Default Cheapest place for XBOX or how to fix my old one.

    Hi all,

Can anyone suggest the cheapest place either mail order or otherwise at the mo to buy an Xbox. Will consider a pre - chipped one or standard and then chip myself.

Mine has gone on the blink.
I can play games for a random length of time seconds upto 30 mins but eventually it will freeze and needs switching off and on (unless anyone knows the cause of this).....
This happens on both copied and original games............

I have a V1.0 XBox with an executer 2.1b (I think) lite solderless mod.

    Thanks for any tips....

NO Warning lights or Codes on Screen at the Freeze point Macmilm ??

Could be that the HDD is going on the blink. You could try replacing hdd with another one and seeing how you go, but don't get your hopes up!

it could be one of the fans has stopped working, u can see the big cpu/system cooler through the back, theres a smaller one in the GPU. youll have top open the console to see if that ones working

I would also tip on it being an overheating problem as well.

Thought mine was the V1.0 box but due to the absence of a GPU fan I gues it must be V1.1.... deffo an early model.... had it years... thanks for feedback everyone.... cud the overheating be caused by my HDD..... I replaced the original with a 30GB IBM HDD worked fine for a year tho so wot changed... the fan on the back of the box is fine !

    Cheers

I would think you would get a dirty disc error if you are playing a game and it freezes due to a hdd I would check the mod mounting and d0 point, could be heat buildup affecting the resistance of the joints...
