    Help Very Poor sound.

I got a TV package just before Crimbles (Hitachi TV/DVD/Video) with freeview built into the DVD, it also has umpteen speakers for cinema sound. Quite frequently the sound gets so bad that it is impossible to watch anything digital at all, but on normal TV it is all OK. I checked all the wiring for the speakers and that all looks good, no loose connections etc. and theDVD will play mucic cd's with no problem, it's only if I want to watch digital TV that it goes tits up. Even than, it isn't always a problem. Any advice befor eit goes back to those lovely, knowledgable Argos people?

do you mean by bad sound, pops and annoying noise for a few seconds (usually the screen goes bad too)?

in which case your signal isn't stable enough, you could try boosting the signal, getting a new aerial, giving in on dtt and getting sky or cable.

most videos will boost or at least make a bit more stable the signal, put the incoming aerial into the video then from the video into the dtt tuner - see if that improves things

a lot of things can cause problems, electrical devices like fridges and boilers turning on/off can cause problems, vehicles going past your house may also cause problems.

Thanks for the reply, friend. The noise is like a very annoying "wobble", reminiscent of what it used to be like when someone was on an old CB right outside your house. I already have the aerial through the video though. I'll have a mess about and see what I can do.

the video won't improve the digital tv signal, and probably reduces it. Try putting the aerial direct to the dvd/freeview and using SCART to output to the video.
