    Hey,

I'm fed up of these 5 channels and looking for someting to fill me in till i get SKY. So i am considering freeview.

Now freeview what can you do i mean i don;t have a clue, can you use interactive services as some sites say you can and some don't.

Also whats the best and cheapest box at the momment?

As for hacks can you get any other channel for free?

Thompson do nice cheap boxes. Sony and Nokia are good if pricey, some models are noted for handling weaker signals better.

Get a model with 2 SCARTS and does RGB out on at least one of them.

Before buying check it out in-store if possible. You want one that changes channels quickly, and also check out the speed of the interactive services / menus. Nothing worse than a slow box that feels like wading through treacle.

If possible buy in a store with a 7/30 day money back policy.

They are Top-Up TV channels, which you can subscribe to for £7.99 per month (except TVX which has it's own subscription - £9.99 I think).

You wil need an old ITV digital box to view them or a newer box with a card slot.

There is also a Red Hot TV channel which uses a very basic encryption which can be decoded if you use a pc digital TV card.
