    Default Freeloader

    Hi all,

Not long got myself a Gamecube on the cheap and have noticed that my local Gamestation is selling the Freeloader disc for £9.99.
Does this game only allow you to load imports or any chance that it loads back-ups?

    Any info will be great.

just import i'm afraid mate. sorry.

you can get SDLoader, that will play backups on a unmodded GC. check out www.gcdev.com for info including the software and how to make your own SD adapter from a memory card...it's a bit wierd and TBH it may eventually come to the same price as a viper and it's about as hard to set up. unless you have the stuff lying around already.
    I'm new to this

@shangrula - If I get one of these SD-adapters and configure it as gcdev.com suggests, could I use the new snake04.dol file to boot GC backups or will I still require AR?

    Cheers

    PsxG

*EDIT* - Looks like gcdev.com is just for booting homebrew code :nowords:

i'm not 100% sure mate. It seems with this anaconda stuff you can boot dvd-r off a sd-loader but it would need a boot disc (which could eaisly be AR). I havn't really looked into it too much but gcdev.com, here and maxconsole.com will be great places to read about it

    just saw this on dextrose....

alright i think i have figured out how to make it work with SDLoad!!!!!!!, i haven't gotten my lidsensor done because its late. but when i load anaconda, it spins up, stops, and then spins up again, and all other previous attempts results in the gamecube crashing.

i don't know if SDloader occupies this address or not, but other posts suggested that PSO and AR load anaconda as an app, and since sdload must be an app....

    DolTool v0.3 - loser 2003
    usage: DolTool <option> <input filename>
options: -i list info on dol file
-b dump dol to binary file
-e dump dol to elf file
-c convert binary file to dol file
-d convert elf file to dol file

    C:\tempr\newgc\DolTool3>doltool -b ana04.dol
    DolTool v0.3 - loser 2003

    Dumped ana04.dol to ana04.bin
    Load Address: 0x81700000
    Entry point: 0x81700000

    C:\tempr\newgc\DolTool3>copy ana04.bin e:\SDLOADER.BIN

this results in anaconda being loaded instead of sdloader.

you can probably use the bin file included in the original release.
i cant wait for my stuff to arrive :thumbs

So, does all this mean you still need a BB adapter or can you boot backups with just the SDloader?

afaik you can boot backup dvd-r with it. you also dont even need to open you gc, just listen for the disc to stop spinning, open the lid, swap discs and then let it boot

    from maxconsole forums..

    1. Load AR.
    2. Choose 'Start Game' (or whatever the option says).
    3. Open the lid (AR prompts you to do that).
    4. Swap AR with original game (optional if you don't want the drive to click).
    5. Close the lid (AR prompts you to do that).
    6. Screen goes black as anaconda loads.
    7. Listen for drive to stop spinning.
    8. Swap original disc with mini dvd-r.
    9. Close lid.

    Game loads.

It's a single swap if you don't mind the drive clicking with the AR disc. It's a double swap if you want to use an original game.

dont need to get that cube case off now

nice, that's great news for all those who didn't wanna fook their cubes up while they learnt how to solder at the same time

maybe make a little window on your gc case so you can see when it stops as apposed to listening, unless it's pretty obvious.

    update..

i got my sdcard stuff from lik sang :thumbs bootts perfectly on the cube..took a whle to put that 30 line code in the action replay but im sure it will be worth it also i had to format the sd card to fat 16 in xp..was a bit of a bitch to find the command but it is ..

    f:\>format t: /fs:fat /a:512

(f: is ur hdd and t is ur sd drive)

now all i got to do is find a good set of workin blank dvdrs

this was done with a 1.08 action replay and 1.04 gcos
