    Default GameCube Softmod

    Guys,

Sorry to have to ask, but can anybody please advise on just what somebody would need to run the newly released softmod for the cube. By this I mean hardware ....

As I dont need to be able to rip my orignals ..... so what euipment would I get away with. I live in UK, so I would be buying a UK Pal machine, what else is required to get this hack working.

    Thanks guys

SD Adapter (best off home made)
    Action Replay (Any Version)
    SD Card
    Anaconda variant release
Mini DVD-R if you don't want to open your GC at all or full sized if you dont mind the top off and waiting for replacement lids.

That should be all you'll need. Possibly Freeloader too as some region fixes are not set yet, however I wouldn't bother with freeloader and would wait for it to be fixed. GCOS v1 looks promising as well as other develpoments.

costis will make one for you, he's the moderator of www.gcdev.com and the creator (not sure about sole sdcreator, but possibly) of SDLoader. It's only $10 but i'm not sure how long he'll take to do it.

edit: I am really bad with a soldering iron, I made a request here for a premodded cube and got sorted in a few weeks from post to playing. I think if you look a few threads down in this Gamecube forum Spencer_y89 asked for someone to mod his GC. If your up for getting your GC modded you might be interested to know people may be up for doing your soldering for you, at a cost though. I guess it depends on what you're after

I think someone with the BBA and PSO could load the exploit onto a mem card then all you would need was the AR.

Any df members willing to load the exploit onto a mem card for me and drogo?

    Question Re: GameCube Softmod

    Re: Shangruler...

When you say any action replay do you mean i can use one of the cheap "ultimate cheat" editions? or does it have to be the version made for "every" game?

    Thanks,
    JJ

sorry mate, it's gotta be the full version of action replay retail copy, no way around that unless you have a viper...but if you had a viper you wouldn't have a problem anyway

Sorry dude, was trying from memory (tis very bad). I priced this up and it'd cost me only slightly less than getting a viper. Might aswell wait to see if anything comes around in the near future (ripper3)

ripper 3 is a good idea, although i'd still recommend the viper...it is only £35 and it's not exactly gonna be used for homebrew, and even if you are the viper is a better chip as it supports loading DOL's and GCOS which loads DOLs via FTP (I think, not tried as I dont have my BBA yet)

I am still unsure on the ripper but currently if you have a good GC version (dol-001 mainly) then the viper could be just as good, if not much better than the RippeR///GC

edit: just worked out what you apoligised for, lol, sorry, no harm done, I put smilies when i'm kidding sometimes,

Here's what my yet to be made softmod has cost.
Action replay from Game for £9.99 when bought with something else.
An unused memory card (ebay £3 or £4.99 from Game)
    A sd connector £1.50 from http://www.jactron.co.uk/JST/SD-Connector.htm
