GCOS Disc Swaping Help

Hello all,

Not sure I'm doing this quite right, grateful if someone could please confirm.

I have GCOS 1.4 on my Max Drive Pro and do this:

1) Boot Max Drive Disk
2) Load GCOS dol from memory card
3) Select 'Boot Game Backup'
4) Swap disc for original then press A
5) Swap disc for mini DVD-R when prompted (8 seconds to swap screen)
6) Select default region when game detected by pressing A

Does this sound right ? Its just that I have a PAL GC and to play an NTSC backup I need to swap at step 4 with an NTSC original for it to boot correctly Otherwise I just get a black screen.

Does this sound right ? You need an original from the region you want to boot a DVD-R from ?

Can someone please confirm the correct booting procedure ?

im not 100%sure with a max drive BUT you will NOT need a ntsc original to boot ntsc backups, you can choose what region you want once the backup has been reconigsed

Many thanks for confirming I'll do some more tests. I think I may have a couple of dodgy DVD-R burns.

if the backup stops spinnging after you swap you DRE, i had several of these with my mini datawrite reds untill i used my last ritek full dvdr which worked a treat

Yes, they stop spinning. I'm using Memorex Mini DVD-R, 2 out of 5 success rate so far ! Not tried full size discs yet.
