best bet is to test them all and see what works well for you.

Personally I use GCOS 1.4 but only becuase I really like the dev team (they are really friendly and up for listening to feedback). It's a tweaked version of Cobra 0.4 (based on the anaconda code) but I would say they have done gone things to it and would recommend it over cobra 0.4 as they have only seemed to have made it better from what I read (especially with DOL-101 cubes). GCOS 1.4 has also seemed to have sorted out a lot of DRE issues with users. I havn't noticed any difference in it.

GCOS 1.4 does has a very slow booting process (and a little bit annoying to hold A with the wavebird) but you also have to select 'Boot Backup' Then press A to start and stop the drive, swap the discs, then press A,X or Y for video modes. However it does have a 8 second swap delay.

Cobra 0.3 is a great release for me. I like the way cobra can direct boot with the swap, no buttons to press and no waiting around (I have no problem with the swap delay). the cobra gives me the same DRE's as the GCOS 1.4. I belive this is still an idle issue that'll probably be fixed in cobra 0.5/1.0 first, I hope I am wrong, the GCOS team are talented.

It depends on your GC drive version too and if it's a DOL-101 or DOL-001 but if you want a good simple bios use cobra 0.3, if it doesnt work well try 0.4 (it's only a flash away, u dont need to hook the video up for a flash ) note: try 0.3 first, I really do think it's better for most cubes i've seen

if you feel experiemental go for the GCOS. GCOS is great for its updates but the interface and method of use can be annoying/lenghty at times.
