Looking for some broadband help..

I was told by bt that we wouldnt have the exchange thingy till about may but i am looking out for a brodband that is good before hand..
I would like to be able to surf and download large files fast, having dial up for 2 years, anything would be fast to me lol.. even 1mb..
Anyway, i would like to download what i want.. not like those ones where you only get so much every month..
Can anyone recommend any companies that do it?
