    Default Mr Kipling cakes

Not normally being a sucker for adverts, I fell for the Mr Kipling Victoria Sponge advert and bought one from Tesco on Thursday.

We had a piece that night and it was awful. It was very stodgy, not light and fluffy how a real one should be.

Feeling a bit miffed I emailed them, via their website, to say they seem to have their recipe wrong.

I was not surprised to receive no reply, but what I did get on Saturday morning in the post, was 2 £2.00 vouchers for more cakes.

Unfortunately the Victoria Sponge was genuinely horrible so I was wondering if they have changed their recipes along with their box designs.

If anybody can recommend any of their products I would be grateful.

(if you can have a discussion about how to cook a steak then this should pose no problem for all you gourmets out there)

I find the key to a good sponge cake is to make sure the bird you've got making it knows how to make a good sponge cake. Works eveytime. :cartman

why not cook up a homemade one instead? much nicer than shop cakes, cheaper and definatly tastier.

(not being sexist there, I cook loads but i'm not really a cake fan, but if I do it's gotta be homemade...yum (plus I have a breadmaker which does all the hard work, but that's only a recent addition )
    I'm new to this

Nah, I'm crap at baking, I used to sponge (sorry, sorry) off my mum, she was the baker in our family.

Unfortunately she's baking for the Pope now so I am back to buying them.

I make some really mean rock buns though!

And the need for this stupid bad language is...?

It doesn't add anything to your post at all, other than showing a poor grasp of the English language.

Oh, and it's offensive as well.

What happened Wappo? Before your bird joined you were sensible. Got you on a tight leash and won't let you near the French Fancies has she?

In my opinion the lemon slices are top but the Kipling Bakewell is a joy to behold lin. Get some and send them in a jiffy bag to Herr Root...etc...etc
