    Default transfer vhs to dvd

    Hi Guys

    can anyone suggest what i might use to transfer some video tapes to dvd. Want to tray and keep the quality quite good. I know i have a tv out function on my graphics card if thats any good.

    you need a tv capture card, some are quite chaep too. This should accept an external input - it sounds like your video card has video out only.

    The tc card should capture to mpg format. You can keep in this format or if you really want you can use a proggie to convert it into dvd vob type files. I wouldnt bother to be honest - unless your dvd player cannot read mpgs of course.

    easyiest and best way is use a standalone dvd recorder
    you wont be able to edit them, but the qulity will be the best you can get

    I once had to do the same thing. I connected a DV Cam up to the VHS and transfered the video to that. I then plugged the DV Cam into my PC and copied across the footage ready for editing.

    tv capture card, ideally with hardware mpeg2 encoding such as hauppage pvr-250/350

    I use a panasonic home dvd recorder its the same as going from one video recorder to another except it records onto dvdr, and if I am backing up my old prerecorded tapes then I use a video cleaner to replace the synch signal.

    Argos sell Belkin high speed USB 2.0 DVD creator for £69.99 bit pricey but will do what u want and more
