Forum Categories

This is just a thought, but i think it would be a good idea to have sub domains for each categorie!

It would give you a bigger audience in a search engine, and i would be easyer to find your desired forum!

For example, for the satellite forum it could be:

satellite.digital-forums.com

or for the mobile forum it could be:

mobiles.digital-forums.com

I think it would be easyer for find things when searching through a search engine such as google also, with most web hosts, sub domains are FREE! :thumbs

Sounds like it would take away from the community because people would go straight to the catagory they're interested in and wouldn't participate in other parts of the board.

as said above it would take the community away having seperate names for each section, as some will just view sections they want and forget the rest,

It would also mean a hell of a lot of work for the admins... installing the forum in each sub-domain - then it of course makes the general administration a pain in the butt due to all the different forums being in subdomains rather than all in the one forum... Don't think this idea will get the go-ahead somehow.

Its not that much work! All you need to do is create the sub domains then setup a redirectional pointer to the specific forum!

And its not like it would take away the community as most people only visit the forum there intrested in anyway! I don't think many people that are intrested in GSM, Consoles or satellite hacking would be intrested in the whine sellar forum!

Also, it would make things alot easier to find, and the admins could easily track there users by there sub-domains stats such as bandwidth information and daily/monthly hits!

And looking it on a business front, it would give more exposure to search engines and possible future ad campaigns for specific domain groups.

Its a know fact in S.E.O, why do you think MSN and most known businesses and companys has so many sub-domains!

It makes it easier to find information (And thats the whole point), and gives you website more exposure to different kinds of users!

The database would also have to be split to ensure that correct forums are shown and that would be next to impossible.

MSN doesnt run a forum thats why it works.

To find stuff on here just use the search function.

to be fair you could just set up the subdomain to forward it to the correct page of the one forum which would be installed only once where it is now, but is it really nessesary or is it just using subdomains becuse you can? we dont want visitors to find this site more easily cos the ones who cant even find hard to find websites are just gonna be retarded leeches.

also it would bugger up the community slightly, if people knew about it

also your business points - if this forum was designed as a business it would be very financially unprofitable, it may increase raptors sales slightly and he does sell adverts to long term members and accept donations to make ends meet but the forum costs him a lot of money and time and hassle to run - its not designed as a business (well maybe if it increases neo sales by enough but i dont really think so)
