I know u can do alot of the windows restrics throw profile editor but u can only seem to restrict MSI files from being installed not stuff like mIRC etc...

On XP Pro, it is alot easier when the computer is on a network so you can make specific groups for liliting access to specific things!

You can use the "Local Security Policy" for limiting access to specific things such as CD-ROM/DVD Drive, installing applications and login settings such as time limits or password expiration!

For a more advance setting, i would create a new group and add which users you want to limit access to that group. You can do this by going into - Contol pannel > Administrator Tools > Computer Managment

    Hope this helps!

Go to Start...Run and type in gpedit.msc

Shed loads of options you setup. Can setup individual user rights on stuff sa well as group policies.

You can stop ppl changing wallpapers to not let them use the TinPotNet

I'm not exactly sure you can limit a user to being able to install one piece of software and not another, however. Neat trick if you could, but really you need to decide if the user can be trusted to install any applications at all, and if not then there should be someone whose life they can suck to do it for them (bitter? hmmm.....)
