    Default Damage Repair Estimate

A copy & paste from another board I'm on coz I'm to pissed off to type it all again

To cut a long story short I've been having problems with the neighbour from hell for over 2 years now.

    • My previous car (Rover) hit by a brick on the driveway (£400 to repair, unable to prove who did it)
    • Last year the cat keyed the entire length of the drivers side (£440 to repair, again unable to prove who did it)
    • 1.04am this morning approx £2000 of damage (a rough guess)

However, this morning I caught the c.....ulprits on CCTV. Throwing paint stripper all over the cat!!!!!! Only scanned thru the tape quicky so didnt see the brick hit the rear quarter, or the bat httting the offside wing & windscreen

The local police now have the tape, but from previous experience I have no confidence in them whatsoever!

..and you've guessed correctly, it wasnt the neighbour from hell on the tape, but 2 little c...ulprits she's obiviously paid to do it

Now, I've asked a friend who knows a few people to make some enquiries for me & he WILL find out the identity of the little c....ulprits, which like the good citizen that I am I shall be passing to the police For their sake they'd better pray I dont get them 1st as certain parts of thier anatomy will be meeting a wooden friend of mine till they tell me who paid them :grr:

Then like the good citizen that I am I will be informing the local constabulary of this persons identity..for what thats worth :nono

The thing that really bugs me is unless I can get the real culprit prosecuted it means I'm gonna have 3 insurance claims in ONE YEAR for malicious damage, which in turn will push my premium so high I wont be able to afford to insure the cat

Ok, so now to the main part of my question, how close is my damage estimate (£2000) & what percentage of a cars value does the damage have to equal before its written off..?

Off the top of my head using rough calculations I would say about £1600+vat.
28 hours labour plus paint, parts and vat.

The usual insurance write off percentage is set at 60%, but due to the costs and hassle now involved in writing vehicles off a couple of insurance companys I do work for are repairing them to 80%+
In some cases we are repairing them right upto their mid book value on glass's guide.

If you require I can give you a precise cost once I am back at work using one of our estimating systems.
