I was wondering if any1 knew what could make the ram card faulty i.e. cause the pc to become unstable ( could not reload os without replacing faulty memory) it's happened twice on this pc, could it be the hard drive?

Doubt it's the hdd mate, that may cause corrupt memory issues but a reboot would clear that,, if the ram is genuinly becoming faulty (i.e tested as faulty in another PC) , it could be an incompatibility with the mobo, or the mobo is giving the ram a little too much voltage.
Right, i've put got higher spec on this ram (256mb pc 3200 400mhz instead of 2100 233mhz so hopefully this might be the answer, thanks for your reply
If your new ram gets sh*gged then I suggest replacing the PSU, those pesky little fellas can send out spikes galore when they want to :censored
I had the same problem but it actually was more noticeable on my hdd which kept powering up and down very quickly so you would hear the whirring noise the drive makes on power up all the time.... If all else fails try a lump hammer! :coffee:
