Ps2 wont play games

rite guys, anyone got the first clue to this problem.

got given a ps2, boots films no problem at all, but soon as you put in a game it goes to the browser screen for about 10 seconds, then you hear the disc spinning, then the words playstation 2 come on screen, now usually when this goes off it goes black for a few seconds and then the game usually boots.

This one when the ps2 logo goes off the screen just stays black, meanwhile you can still hear the disk spinning, so its still reading the disc, just that there is nothing on the screen.

Just weird that it will play films and not games.


anyone got any ideas guys id really appreciate it

just original games m8, both dvd and the blue ones underneath

oh and one thing, its only been opened to have a new laser fitted, and after it was fitted the girl who gave me it said it was still doing the same thing, so its deffo not the laser. She took it back to the guy who fitted the laser and got him to take it out and get the cash back, he removed it and didnt give her another reason why it was doing this, so he didnt have a clue basicly

could be the dvd controller chip then - I think there prone to diein as well ?

sound like a prob with the ps2 side of the machine. try a ps1 game. Lazer driver and lazer are ok as its playing dvds most likely a memory prob or lazer tracking.

dont really wanna buy a new one as ive already got a ps2 and xbox and gamecube, this was just one i was given and would like to get going and keep for a spare
