Default Freedom to Surf (F2S) now 8mb!!

Just got this when I logged in this morning. Going to cost me £15 to regrade, but hey 8mb, oh and the service has been spot on. The 100gb Limit may put people off but it's unmetered between 1am and 6am, my Torrents Fly on this too !!:

**Edit: I am aware of other services that may be cheaper and give you more for your money(the same as Telephone lines, Gas, electricity etc..), but I have been with these guys for various services over the years and as a loyal customer to them they are fantastic**

Freedom2Surf Spearheads New Broadband Revolution with Launch of 8 and 24Mbit Consumer Broadband Services

Ultra-High Speed Services to make IP-TV home entertainment services a reality for UK consumers

21 June 2005, London - Freedom2Surf (www.freedom2surf.net), has today announced that it will be one of the first ISPs to offer consumers super-fast broadband services at speeds of up to 24Mbit. Freedom2Surf’s new 8Mbit and 24Mbit services, will be up to 48 times faster than standard broadband packages, allowing consumers to experience a completely new range of services such as Internet TV.

Freedom2Surf is today launching its 8Mbit Connect Package which will be immediately available from just £14.99 a month. This new service will initially be available in 14 exchanges in major metropolitan areas, with the number of exchanges increasing to over 200 from end of July 2005 and nationwide by the end of the year. Customers on Freedom2Surf.s existing 2Mbit Connect Packages will be able to upgrade to the 8Mbit by paying a one-off £15 regrade fee depending on their local exchange capability.

Broadband at speeds of greater than 8Mbit will enable UK consumers to revolutionise the breadth and depth of services which they can receive through their Internet connection. As well as significantly faster downloads of music and video files, ultra-fast broadband will enable consumers to take advantage of Internet TV (IP-TV) services which are set to launch in the second half of the year.

Consumers will be able to access services allowing them to purchase films and music videos on a pay-per-play basis, with the potential to transform home entertainment. A number of content providers are expected to take advantage of ultra-fast broadband to challenge the dominance of players such as Sky, Telewest, *** and Home Choice.

Chris Panayis, managing director of Freedom2Surf, commented: “.Consumers across Europe and the US have long enjoyed ultra high-speed broadband and we are committed to leading the broadband speed revolution in the UK. The promise of Local Loop Unbundling is finally delivering, and consumers as a result will be able to enjoy 24Mbit broadband for the same price as many are paying for bog standard 1Mbit services.”

Chris Panayis continued: “We are expecting to see the launch of a number of new broadband-content services including Internet TV during 2005, and super-speed broadband will allow users to turn their Internet connection into a complete entertainment gateway for their home.”

For further information on the launch of today.s 8Mbit service and other broadband packages from Freedom2Surf please visit http://www.freedomtosurf.net/adsl

These cards allow broadband speeds up to 24mbit so customers who go onto the 8mbit LLU connections will soon be able to upgrade to 24mbit broadband at the flick of a switch.

What equipment will work with 8Mb?

The following equipment has been tested OK up to 8mbit speeds.

    Voyager 2100 Wireless Router

nevermind just looked at it again and it's saying from 14.99 aswell as from 2GB so bit shit really that with a 8mb line you'll get only 2GB allowance for 14.99 where as for 29.99 you can get a 500gb allowance from UKO ;X
also seeing as its going through easynet uko should be able to kick 24mb/s out quicker ;D

Just saw this this morning and it looks good that you can get up to 8M for £24 per month but the 100G limit is pretty small with that DL capacity....

Fantastic!!! I'm on 100gb limit at the moment, most of my torrents & d/l are throught the night anyhow so it's not metered but uncapped will be a bonus especially with no price increase (apart from the £15 upgrade fee for existing members.)

    Cant wait

Just called them. I am on the list to be informed once my exchange is upgraded. They said I can do it now and i'll be on the fastest speed they can currently give me which will auto upgrade to 8MB once exchange upgraded. Fantastic!

    And finally, fancy 24mbit Broadband:

    Can I get 24mbit broadband?

Exchanges that have been LLU enabled by Easynet are fitted with the latest generation ADSL2+ cards.

These cards allow broadband speeds up to 24mbit so customers who go onto the 8mbit LLU connections will soon be able to upgrade to 24mbit broadband at the flick of a switch.

The good thing with F2S as i have already mentioned is that you will get the fastest possible speed until it is upgraded.

I just wonder what the 24mb price will be..............

Not yet, they have basically said that once the Exchange is upgraded to 8mb, then it is capable of upto 24mb. BUt I dare say that they will only role it out to business's to start. Then they will see what the competition offer before commiting to a price/package etc...

So let's start a list of current F2S members. If you PM me i'll add it to the list. Maybe the mods can make a new sticky where I can add memebers names and how many referral's they have had. Would be nice to share the free money about.

Infact we should do it with Sky and everything else. Anyway Members so far:
