Attention To All Who Think They've Cancelled £1.75 Caller-id

Well, following a great post by Biggy7 in his forum last week I went to www.bt.com/btprivacy (as now being advertised on TV), entered my account details and unchecked the box marked "caller-id £1.75", as it becomes a free item when subscribing to the TPS (which is free).

I revisited my online BT account just now and found the box had become checked again, with a subsequent £1.75 monthly charge showing against it.

I rang 0800 800 150 and spoke with an agent who said that anyone who'd ever had a "value calling plan" in the past has this chargeable item attached to that plan, even if that plan is now known by another name (Together option 1 is my current plan).

So, I'd strongly recommend anyone who's signed upto this "free" service (online) to go back to the BT site and ensure the option remains uncharged, otherwise a quick call to the above freefone number will sort it for you.

If you don't see a charge you aren't being charged I suppose. My total showed £1.75 whereas last week after I'd changed it it showed what you listed above.

*edit* Just been back to the charges page and I'm blocked out "Changes are currently being made to your account details. Please check back after 20/07/2005"
