    Help Faulty PS2

Hi all. I have acquired a faulty ps2, (Tray won't eject, black screen only on power up). After searching the forum, i believe this could be the "BA5815fm" chip and "PS11" fuse. Is there any way of being certain about this? The fuse seems intact, (allthough i am testing it on the board). Hoping to fix this up, as i am a tight git who like's anything for nothing.

    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanx.

theres no way to be certain with anythin like this, the black screen could be somethin more drastic, use a multimeter to check the fuse.

you need to count along the legs of the Ba chip until you reach pin 8 on the BA chip,it the one after the large middle section, and pin one has a dot next to it in the corner,to check touch pin 8 with a multimeter and a earth point like the copper going round the board if you have continuity the its blown, but you also need to check the fuse.

What version board number or whats the scph number of the ps2

SCPH39003, board is gh022. Pin 8 does go to earth. (PIn 8 was the one connected to the fuse right?)

So this is pretty "clear cut" then? Is this a straight forward job? And how much should i pay for one of these chips.
    Thanx for the help.

£9.00 for the BA with the fuse to,Link Below. If you have not got a rework station which you can heat the chip up with hot air and remove it, the only other way is to carefully cut through each leg both sides with a craft knife or stanley blade with out cutting the board below the chip whie you have removed the middle section of the chip you can then remove each leg with a soldering iron, and also heat the fuse up each side and give it a gentle lift.

you must put the heatsink pad back on the new chip

Most important take your time do not rush it, you dont want to be lifting andy tracks off the board

The hardest part is putting the new BA chip on and soldering each leg down without making a bridge with the next leg

IF you get worried about doing it PM and send me the board and BA chip and I will repalce it for you, just cover the postage

I will help any member out with ps2 or xbox problems, the only problem with Ps2 is if the laser has gone, is finding a quality Laser because, most on the net are cheap crap with no or little warrenty.
