    Photos Butterfly

This I think, is the Speckled Wood butterfly - most often seen on sun-spotted leaves. Likes bramble flowers, and the caterpillar eats grasses. Wingspread is 47-50mm. If a common butterfly scored 5 points, and rare butterfly scored 25 points, this would score 15.

    why 5 and 25? Not 1-10 :tongue

j/k lol thats a brilliant picture, I like the way that the butterfly is sharp but the green around it is blurred together, I'm not sure if that was intentional but it's a very good looking effect.
    Im a fuckwit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought my daughter a range of books about wildlife, and in it they rate all the creatures on commonominity (is that a word? If not, it bloody well should be. (Patent now pending!!! Heheheh)).

The book uses 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25. Dunno why, but that's why I echoed the rating they used here, it seems logical enough....

Perhaps you can identify this little biugger then.
Apols for the quality, it was moving so fast it was all I could do to frame it, let alone focus on it

Could be a Peacock butterfly. Depends if it is quite small or not. Were there any nettles near by?

No it was quite big - not quite elaphant hawk moth, but pretty big 1-1.5 inches IIRC. There probs were nettles nearby as it was the concrete path on a nature reserve.
All I know is it was fucking motoring - perhaps the concrete was too hot for its little footsies (it was a baking hot day)
