Celtic out of European Competition?

Would i be correct in assuming that should celtic not overturn the FIVE goal deficit then they would be eliminated from ALL European Comps this season?

I think its only the third qualifying round losers that fall back into the Uefa Cup but cannot find a source.

Pre-season means nothing. I remember under walter Smith one pre-season we hammered teams away from home and finished 17th. Last year we lost to teams like Crewe and Motherwell and then went onto finish 4th. Did I say 4th? Don't tell the reds

I was shocked :nono to see that result last night ! it's bad enough if celtic lost to barcelona or Chelsea 5-0 but to a bunch of nobodys from Bratislava unbearable.

I think the problem celtic have is that they havent got enough class players, this didnt matter when O'Neil was in charge, as he could motivate any player to give him 110% every single game I mean just look at Hartson and Sutton they used to play really well for O'Neil but dont seem to be doing the business under Strachen. I think Strachen has stepped up a level in his managment career and he needs to make some big signings (people like Aliadiare and Paul Telfer just dont cut it im afraid) Bad move not signing bellamy they sure could use him in the second leg.

It has not been a good pre-season for celtic with the horror tackle at Leicster and this drubbing plus the SPL starts Saturday its going to be an intresting season for celtic fans. I wish them Luck !

Dont fully agree with everything there L4dderon, I think strachan getting southampton into Europe was as good an achievement as anything O'Neill did at Celtic.
O'Neil doesnt motivate players as he is "sit in the office" type manager that doesnt actually take any training sessions, just watches and picks the team, probably gave some big hearted team talks before games and at half time, but wasnt a hands on manager. Strachan is probably a more hands on manager and when someone new comes in it takes time to get things going exactly how you want them.
I wouldnt judge Strachans ability to get the best out of sutton and hartson just yet, for fuck sake its the first competetive game, albeit a fucking disasterous start and probably means they are out of Europe, but I dont think things will stay this bad for long in all honesty, although I would like it if it did.
