Default Setting up ISS website - Firefox password prompt!?

I'm trying to setup a test website using ISS but I've never used ISS before, only Apache and that's not an option. :nowords:

When I navigate to http://localhost/ using iExplorer everything is fine, but using Firefox I get prompted for a user name and password!

Anyone got any ideas why this is happening? Everything is as default although I've been messing with the Directory Security settings to try and solve the issue.

    Thanks

    (p.s. Running XP Pro SP2)

Go into Control Panel - Admin Tools - IIS - then choose the 'website' you have created. When you then goto properties choose the tab for security. In there you can select to allow ALL users.

This is off the top of my head. i'm not at my PC until this evening so cannot give exact help until then, however I did have this problem when I moved my Fantasy Footy site to a different server last month.

    I remember this problem :nowords:

Load up firefox and type about:config into the address bar, hit enter.

Type ntlm into 'Filter' box and hit enter

    Double click network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris

Then type in localhost as your value. Hit enter#

    That should do it :thumbs

Thanks nickstan, don't know what that means but it fixed it! :thumbs

Unfortunately Goldberg I can find anything like "allow all users" but "Anonymous access" is already enabled.

Tam9, I'm using IIS cos that's what I have to work with at the office - so i'm a bit of self teaching to get up to speed. However I managed to **** the IIS server up today by installing FrontPage Extensions 2002 on it (I'm gonna have to try and persuade the managers to use Apache and PHP!).
