a quad lnb and cable would be better, I'm fairly certain with sky boxes you can't split the signal anyway

ebay has loads of boxes, def the cheapest and you might pick up a card with the box saving 20 quid for the ftv card from sky.

thanks hxbro, time to get the ol' credit card out and purchase a few bits and bobs!

does anyone have any experience of fitting a new lnb to a sky minidish? is there anything i should watch out for when buying one or will any one that states it works with a sky mini dish do?

    hi flamingo,

Yes you could use a quad lnb which has four outputs,

I think it would be easier using quad lnb and running both coaxial cables from it to feed both recievers if you know how to install.

Im not sure what the distance is from your friends reciever to your room but you can get around 15 meters of coaxial cable for around £15. You will also need to buy a splitter which will be under £10 . The negative point about using a long length of coaxial cable to supply a feed is the zaping times (channel changing times) and the picture quality. But this is up to you....

suggestion lnb : h**p://www.satalogue.com/section10/page1.htm , im not saying buy from this company as i have never used them. Just trying to give you a guide on the price you will be looking to pay etc. Although i think you will be able to pick up one cheaper than the one in that link.

I would say that ebay is the cheapest place to buy a sky box but as always with ebay watch out for scams..

    Thanks

wow thanks for the fast replies folks, i think ill go down the quad lnb just to be on the safe side, seems i can get a quad lnb for about 15-20 notes, a boc for about 30 notes and a few metres of cabling for very little, this is looking like a good project
