    Help Fitting sky+

I have been offered a 2nd hand sky+ box and was wondering what's involved in fitting it in place of my standard sky digibox. I have read through the previous threads, and looked into the subscription on sky web site (.. ..), but just wanted to verify what I need exactly. Is it just a new quad LNB, a length of CT63 cable, and upgrade my subs? Has anyone else done this themselves?

Hi Its not too tough - you can get away with a dual lnb but quad is better really - fitting is easy - swap the new lnb with your old one - they should be the same fitting as long as you have a sky minidish!!

Run another cable from the dish to the back of your set top box!!

Let sky know you want a plus sub and you are away!!

Be careful not to move the dish when you swap the lnb over - they can be a bugger to realign without a meter!!

If you want a cheap lnb - look around at your local garage - if there are some pretty big locker looking things on the side they will be the place where sky drop kit for their engineers - if you catch an engineer you can probably get a quad for about 20 quid!!

oh - and dont scrimp on the cable - buy the best you can get - ct100 is a good one - - keeps the signal quality up and stops blocking up on the picture if you get the good stuff!!!

Anyway - if you need any more advice let me know!!!

Could anyone tell me if Sky+ would still work with just one Sat feed. But you couldn't record and watch a different channel?

As i live in a flat with a communal dish and just one sat feed.

Right just got Sky Installed. The guy couldnt do anything to get me sky plus but he did say that someone in the office said that a mudulator splitter is coming out soon from the states. It will allow you to split the signal

    Watch this space I think

i think you can use some kind of stacker/destacker to do it.- would be talking a fair few £££ though for it.

Failing that you could have sky+ but would only be able to record off a channel on the same transponder as the one you're on.
