Help needed before ordering

Im about to buy either a mitac mio 168 or yakumo delta as they are the same unit (re-badged)

My question is, which sd card do i need to buy to install my software on as it doesnt come with it.??

Will my rs-mmc card work out of my nokia 6230 its a 512mb one?

I can see im gonna be a pest on this forum since i dont even own one yet and im stuck...lol

have you got the adaptor fot the rs-mmc to convert it to standard mmc as by the looks of the one's they show they are normal size SD cards so with any luck if you have the conveter it may work, my 6600 would not work with a sd card, (i know mmc and sd are supposed to both work) you may have more luck the other way round

heard varying reports, some say if you get a large one and put other stuff on the card then for some reason the tt locks up, I am using a 256mb, on a phone so even if you can afford 525mb, that would give you room for maps, voices sound files etc

plus the mio 168 has mp3 player too so u would have enuff room for songs

Does anyone have any tips before i start playing.

lad at work has got a mio and is happy with it

when you set up the gps on it i think u pick com 2 tom tom gps for it to work

@dappa i have a mio168 here mate, you could have had it off me...

get as big a card as you can afford...the issues with tt locking was with v3 and previous...they seem to have sorted it now. i've got tt5 on a 1gb card and have loads of movies/music on it also and its fine for me.

havin a few probs t1z3r and chance of some help m8.

installed, tom tom 5, and checkpoint. trying to add maps?? but then it locked up and i cant even open tom tom now.

Reset the mio and re-installed the tom tom but its locked again.

Got loads of stuff on my mmc card im using, its the 512mb one i used in my nokia 6230.
Im waiting on a 512mb sd card coming in the post, will this be ny better?

any help would be appreciated m8.

i did read in this sub forum that someone had a problem with using tomtom and when other files were stored on the mmc it caused problems, but saying that i am sure T1z3r said it was all sorted, i will have a wee look through the earler threads and see if i can find it

Hmm i may have found the problem, when i install Checkpoint it starts fine but after a few mins it freezes.
Did a hard reset and installed tom tom 5 only and it works fine. (if only i knew how to get the maps installed??). Maybe its Checkpoint thats causing this?

might not be the same for you but i got me maps just copied straight on root of card in their own folder (runnin tt 5.1 on a 1gb sd card)

yes it should be , i think tt5 originally comes on a 256mb card so enuff room for now

you dont need checkpoint to warn you of poi`s

the function is already in tom tom 5 m8

did you get the maps loaded dappa?
they should have come with the tt5 when you dloaded it and should be in their folder on the root of you mem card as mentioned earlier.

Did you do a simple copy and paste of the GB maps onto the storage card ?
