Could anyone tell me how change the dash in a audi a3 using vag com ie recode used dash to replace faulty one any help much appreciated,
Unfortunately u require a 7 digit security login code from the dealers to do that but again unfortunately dealers dont give them out anymore. their dealer machine gets the codes automaticly from germany throw the internet. U will have to take it to them.
or if you can read the eeprom from the old dash you can clone it on to the new one
Its Micro Mate Otherwise I Would Have Just Changed Eeprom Thanks For That Just A Pain In The Arse Arent They
What version of vag do you have mat .I have vag eeprom programmer & pincode ware if u need it,it would be my pleasure to help u out fella
Thanks for the offer mate but was a bit ago that job handy to know for the future pm me on info@diagtech.co.uk have something else i might need cheers
No prob mat anytime fella;-)
Jobs obviosly gone now, but I am sure that dash has a 93c46 (or maybe 93c86) which holds the 4 digit login code. If (or should I say when!) the problem comes up again read the chip and post the dump, I will show you how to extract the login code from there. I then have calculator to change the 4 digit code to a seven digit code. The information on how to then code the dash is all on the rosstech website. You can also buy a login code reader via OBD from autosvs, I have this kit (get the 2in1) and it is fantastic!
what version of vagcom u usin dalambo,if u can could u post up the link to the rosstech site with the reprog info fella, iam tryin to learn as much as i can about the pro's& cons with vagcom
Got a mk4 golf to do tommorrow problems with guages im assuming that the problem isnt with the data in the eeprom customer has spare dash and swopping eeproms should do.But is offer still open if this doesnt work regards matt.
I will post more details tomorrow. In the mean time mattf if you want to strip the old dash and take photos of both sides of the board an post them here I will show you the eeprom to read. Some are on the rear side and some are on the gauge side (behind the black backing with the numbers etc on). Be careful as you do this because the surchage on the old unit is pretty steep.
See the Immobilizer 2 Instrument Cluster Swapping and Immobilizer 3 Instrument Cluster Swapping sections on this page.
Vag com is a great and very versatile tool if you know how to use it you can download the shareware version off the rosstech website and a cr@ck is readily available on the net. If I were you I would do it properly rather than swap the eeprom as I did something similar recently with an Audi TT and it led to more trouble than it was worth (see this thread from another forum)!
