Default Not the Bomd we are expecting

I really dont know what to expect now... sounds to me like they are going to try and rip off Bourne...

    James Bond writer 'reinvents' spy

Pierce Brosnan has starred in four James Bond films
James Bond is to be given a new image as a younger character with no gadgets, a writer on the next film has told trade paper the Hollywood Reporter.

    "We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28 - no Q, no gadgets."

Producers have still not decided who will play the spy in Casino Royale, which is due out next year. The most recent star, Pierce Brosnan, is 52.

A wide array of actors, including Daniel Craig, Clive Owen and Dougray Scott, have been mooted as possible contenders.

Paul Haggis wrote Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby
Ian Fleming's 1953 Casino Royale book, the first Bond novel, the spy was introduced as a more youthful, realistic and cold character than the films.

The book was also one of the most violent in the series, with the heroic secret agent taking a beating from his rival Le Chiffre, and gadget-master Q was not present.

Casino Royale was turned into a spoof spy movie in 1967, with David Niven in the lead role.

The new film, which will be the 21st in the franchise, will be directed by Martin Campbell, who was in charge of GoldenEye.

Paul Haggis has been receiving critical acclaim for his movie Crash, which is set against the backdrop of Los Angeles and deals with racism.

The Canadian-born film-maker also wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby.

The original movies had no gadgets (unless you include Ursula Andress's tits).

This is good news. I like Paul Haggis' involvement and especially the fact that they're moving away from the current Rolex/Nokia/Jaguar advert formula. The gadgets are gay, when they haven't been added to hock a particular product they just make the Bond films hackneyed and ridiculous. John Cleese was shite as Q as well.

i think he could do this well

clive owen would have been my first choice, but i do like this guy - i thought he was great in layer cake. if he can manage to play bond well, and they put together a decent script, this could transform the whole franchise

if not it's going to die on it's arse

I think this could be a good move.

Ewan McGreggor, Clive Owen et al are already well established actors, who are already well known to the public (especially McGreggor)

This guy, though known, is gonna be new to a lot of people...which will give him a better chance of playing a convincing bond I reckon

    Shooooooo-ryuken!
