Default Motherboard naffed looking for cheap replacement

My mates motherboard has conked out and he hasnt got alot of money and its his only contact really with his daughter and grandaughter who live in the US, The CPU and Memory is fine so im trying to find a motherboard that will take the CPU and Memory he has.
The processor is a Duron 1.3 (the original m/b socket says socket 462) and the memory is a 256 SDRAM PC133, Ive tried going round the usual shops and ive tried Ebuyer, but unfortunatly none have a board that will take SDRAM (i did tell my mate it will be a pain to find) i have also tried Ebay but by the time the bidding reaches the end and with the postage costs its always out of his small budget.
Anyone know of anywhere that will do a board cheap new or used ?

    Cheers

Buying Re: Motherboard naffed looking for cheap replacement

Hi the socket 462 as not been produced for a long while now and as u have found it is impossable to find one in the computer shops. First as the bust board got a agp grphics card or is it on board. Second how much is not much money because.

    Motherboard
    PC Chips M848ALU SKT A SIS 748 400 DDR AGP 8x ATA133 6Ch Sound/LAN/USB 2.0 for Athlon or Sempron CPUs for £24.01
Supports AMD Athlon™ XP, Athlon™/Duron™ CPUs with frequency at 266/333/400MHz in Socket A for Full Size ATX Form Factor.

    Processor
    AMD Sempron 2200+ Processor Skt A 256cache 333fsb - OEM CPU (SDA2200DUT3D)
    £39.37

    Ram
    Ebuyer 512MB DDR PC2700 333MHz 184pin Extra Value RAM
    £31.99
Total with shipping from ebuyer is £101.53
Now u carnt grumble at that can u.

The reason i asked about the graphics card is becaouse this board does not have onboard graphics, but u can get one for less than £20

ive got an old abit board that takes pc133 and will take the duron, i actually had a duron in it, but dont get your hopes up m8 as ive not looked at it or touched it in a long time so it may not work.

but if it works then its yours

socket 462 and socket a are the same thing, but the trick as u know is finding one that takes SDRAM, some of the older boards used to take both SDram and DDR ram, jetways were one
