My problem is that my dad had his *** Jerrold box chipped a few years ago, he now wants to upgrade to digital but is worried they will know his box has been chipped.
Is there any way round this?
Thanx

Easy when you know how, or where to look
tell em the box is broke i doubt they would want it back anyway
If it looks ok externaly then just give it to them as it is, they only pile up the old analogue stb's in the stores then scrap em anyway.
If Circles were Squares and the Sea was the Sky...
When I upgraded a few years back, they picked up on the anti-tamper clip at the back was missing, as yours will be-I said it had been dropped and had snapped off, and he said fine and left it at that.
Thanx 4 replies, but wont the engineer turn the tv on? if he does he will know immediately that its chipped.
I was once told that when a box is chipped, a new component is added and that if u take this out the box is unchipped. Can ne1 confirm this?
Thanx again

hiya
can speak from experience just act daft when the guy comes and say you cancelled analogue a long time ago. to be honest the guy will be a contractor in a rush and wont be bothered to check. if he ums and ars tell him to resc and sort box out but if not hell just fit digital.
also may be worth cutting plug off cable feed and using aerial plug to feed telly. hell never twig.
the n** guys work from laptops and when order is on for digital thats all iot says fit digital doesnt mention anything about migrate.

If he does plug it in and see its been chipped, just say the installer who put it in said he could make all channels come on if you gave him £30 cash:whistle
