Wi-fi Connection setings help!!!

Hi

I have Metal gear Acid, when i try to play the link battle mode, all i get is a connection status, the game searches for the players list, but nothing happens, Do i need to wait longer?
Do i need to connect first to the Accses point first and then load the game, in Link battle mode?
i am running teh game from the orginal UMD disc.

isnt this game ad-hoc? i.e. you need two local PSP's to play multiplayer, hence 'link' ???

It has Ad-hoc and internet Play.
