    Default A history of violence

vigo mortisen (ye u try spelling it) plays small town diner manager who kills two nutjobs who try nd hold up his gaff. Que attention from mobsters who think hes someone he ses he isnt.

Tbh i thought this film sucked ass! there is very little build up of the characters backgrounds and the story is way too short. the whole cinema were like "is that it?!" when it finished. Watch it if u like close ups of ppl getting shot in the head, or vigo mortisens bare arse. :nono

5/10 - nd thats only cos the bird in it would get it.

I don't believe you, this is David Cronenberg, he can do no wrong.

This film is the Dogs Danglies, best movie ive seen for a long time.

Viggo plays a perfect part in this movie (i wont spoil a thing)

Acting is very good, story line we have seen quite a few times but very well done.

The violence in this movie is very graphic but perfectly done, theres not to much. They havent went postal at all as this would have ruined it.

A bonus for the boys is a full frontal from the gorgeous Maria Bello.

A very good film and a worthy 9.5/10

Cronenburg is indeed a God. :thumbs

saw this last night... thought it was pretty good.

i was expecting a bit more of an explantion about wtf was going on or what he actually did in his history, but the little bits and peices you get told are sufficient to peice together enough to understand the film.

First thing youll notice is just how graphic some scenes are. the violence/sex scenes... in particular.. its the fact that it shows you the bits that most movies never tread.. like the first sex scene, when they move into a 69 position your just like.. wtf.. normally films just cut scene but this one just kept going. and it was the same with the violent scenes... each one put together very well and executed with extremely detailed goryness. some interesting laughs and shrieks heard from the audience in the showing i went to.

anyway.. i liked it... was just slightly more shocking than you expect.. i like films like that. other than the fact that you have to kinda guess what he was in his past, this was very good.

on the down side, the actress that played his little girl was shite, and hugely annoying.

    Agree 100% there m8.

I wish they'd used her in the first scene instead of the brown haired girl...lol

I agree that the violence was well choreographed but I was put off right at the beginning with the happy family b0ll0x when the daughter had a nightmare and the whole family woke up in turn to cheer her up... YEH RIGHT!

Best bit was the son battering the bully.... class! 6/10

Watched this last week with the Mrs and have to say I really enjoyed it which is rare with films these days. Mortensen did well, thought the wife was a little hairy and looked like an 'internet teen', i.e. someone trying far too hard to look young to get a fuck, daughter was annoying and didn't seem to fit in the family.

Story good and well doine effects on people shot and stuff but you would expect that from Cronenberg.

Top film and worth a watch on a Sunday night. 7.3456123/10

Good film, if a bt short and sweet. Mortensen was awesome, finally a good performance since Lord of the Rings.

i liked this movie...i read the graphic novel sometime ago, and although some of the story has changed, they havent strayed to far from the novel plot..on reflection, i dont think the novel story line would have transfered to film very well anyhow....so yes, nicely done.
and yes, the bully scene is great!!

I thought it was very over-rated tbh!
Although it's watchable I would only give it 6.5-7/10

Saw this when it was on at the cinema last year. Thought it was a pretty decent flick, certainly well worth watching again.

It is unusual to see the violence/sex scenes in that amount of graphic detail, and some of the people I went to see it with were shocked. Its nothing we've not seen before though.
