    Attention inactive members

Is there a policy to remove inactive members i.e. them who haven't viewd the forum say in the last 18 months?

I've been browsing on the members list and notice some very long inactivity in some members. Would it not be wise to send a reminder out to these people that we are still here? Or a better suggestion would be send a mass mail out to ALL DF members and if the message bounces delete their account depending on how active they have been?

It could help the database handle all the queries that we flint at it all the time and maybe improve performance over all.

What do you reckon? am I slabbering pish?

I reckon it would be a good idea, but there has been a few times DF has been down for maintenence where they have deleted the accounts of members that have been inactive for a long time...

inactive accounts get deleted on a regular basis.... but the more accounts (and email addresses) in the db, the more customers rap is able to reach with neo emails... and thats a large part of payment for df is its advertising capacity.

i dont think theres a specific need to bin loads of people right at this very moment tho as the board is running smoothly and quickly with almost zero downtime (cept when rap didnt pay the bill...)

i'm not having any problems on DF at the moment, seems to be running nice and smooth and the load times are relatively fast so i don't think there is any need to delete inactive members for the time being. And as marcode stated, the more email addresses on the database the more potential customers for raptor and the gang. No income, no DF!!!
Keep it up guys, your doing a grand ol' job :thumbs

Sorry, I didn't want to sound patronising by it all. I never thought like code did about the email addy's.

It's a clever way of thinking.

But I now get the idea of it all and the term 'marketing'
