Would it be possible to move the Mark Forums Read quick link down the list so that I lower the risk of pressing it as I have once again done this morning!
I can't see many people using it, can they?
Cheers, salv.

If you're using FireFox, put a link to 'New Posts' on a tab, or in IE just save a shortcut in ur favourites.
Here's the direct link to 'New Posts'..
Code:http://www.digital-forums.com/search.php?do=getnew
Type the link in Mr Os post into your address bar in IE and then drag the link over to the Links button next to the Go button at the end of your address bar and you will get a link to it in the Links drop down.
does anyone ever use the mark forums read button?
maybe it's useful to the mods but I've never clicked it with intent.
I'm new to this
I use it when I have finished browsing the board
I use the 'mark forums read' at the end of a visit, if I am only on the forum for a short time it doesn't seem to update the read posts correctly, so if I return a day later after say a 10 minute visit the day before, 'view new posts' still brings up the posts I viewed on the first visit, clicking the 'mark forums read' button cures this. But it's still a pain, its so close to the 'view new posts' button. And it has been moaned about in here before, I doubt it's gonna be changed any time soon.
Q-Buster
Not intentionally No. But sometimes when you go to click 'New Posts' the mouse slips and you accidentally press 'Mark Forums Read' thus losing all of the new posts.Originally Posted by shangrula
Can be very frustrating.
If it could be re-arranged it would be a bonus
Well done lombie!
Read the first post again mate.

i imagine moving it would involve basically haxoring the code and cutting out the part for that menu item and pasting it back in somewhere else in the menu, not very hard but it would need access to the files which needs passwords so raptor/xdam type job rather than just any admin, hence it will take a long time cos they are busy people
Yeah, its nothing that can be edited within the admin or mod cpanel, therefore making any actual site edits a very difficult job to do...
Im a fuckwit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes it can be edited within the admin control panel. That is where all the templates are edited from.Originally Posted by stuz

hmm maybe witht the ftp cpanel, but the admin cpanel on the site itself, im sure you can do it on our site (but it may not be even be similar, im a noob)Originally Posted by stuz

Stuz I have admined vbulletin boards for 4 years, so I think I know what I'm talking about, you upload the PHP files via FTP.Originally Posted by stuz
You access the templates via the admin control panel where you edit the templates, you can also create NEW templates via the admin control panel, you don't download or upload templates.
Got a little suggestion for you go and visit vbulletin.com, register and try out the admin demo.

As you can see from my post i was quoting Shangrula and was therefore replying to his question
Aah now things become clearer, I had a feeling you were talking about phpBB/phpnuke and not vbulletin.Originally Posted by stuz
lol sorry i was wrong in the first place but then i didnt say i knew for sure, never really done anything with vBulletin myself and assumed that its not possible to edit templates from the admin panel since it generally isnt with other forum software.
once again the 'Or twins step in and manage to make me look slightly less stupid by outperforming me on that front
