Default Got a little time on your hands ? , try pencil carving...

these must of took a while ( to say the least ! ) , theres more over at http://www.infofreako.com/jad/pencil/0list-e.html
They are mainly produced by Mizuta Tasogare and Kato Jado.
divided into 4 types - "Double spiral", "Chain", "Ring" and "Kikko" that may be called a honeycomb pencil. Others like "Six-fold spiral", "Extensible" and "Triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon" are considered to be variations based on one of those 4 types. "To take carving in the wood of a pencil", is certainly what pencil carving is all about. But we are required to be skilled enough for delicate woodwork in carving out a pattern like some kind of a tracery without making any miscut on the naked lead inside.

After we were successful in our pencil carving, one thing came up to us for a change in it. We had an innovation into a new technique deriving from the "Chained pncil" - to carve out two components imagined to be overlapped between the pencil surface and the lead. Though not so satisfactory, a later work called "Two-level crossing" became the first to realize that technique. And it was followed by such perfectly successful works as "Winter's big triangle" and "Twin double-spirals" which brought people overwhelming impressions. For the 11th "Hands Taisho" contest held anually in winter by Tokyu-Hands, we enterd our pencil carvings and won the "Planning Prize".

Would be good if he added to his collection of sculptures. Pity he doesn't do more, 'cos they're grand pieces of work 8)
