Default Traffic shaping on f2s port 119

Last night I noticed my news downloads on port 119 running <100k/s, I thought it was just contention, but after switching ports to see if it helped my speeds went upto >400k/s - someone else did the same to confirm. So it looks like f2s are doing some sort of traffic shaping at night (about to check during the day) on port 119.

no problems for me last night was coming down the line at a steady 230k/sec on my 2mb. I have seen lots of complaints about F2S recently but tbh my connection has got more steady and concistent over the last few weeks. No problems at the mo, if they start shifting things about and introducing a cap then im off.

gotta admit im a bit dissapointed by the sudden lack of new LLU exchanges, was told almost all will be done by end of the year, but thats never going to happen now! looks like a frustrating wait ahead for BT to sort out maxdsl.

it seems only llu users were affected (possibly with bittorrent too), however apparently there were upgrades last night.

On the exchange front it looks like a load of exchanges have been withdrawn to order from too, looks like either f2s or easynet can't handle the load, which would explain the high number of people complaining about slow speeds on llu in the evening.

No, it has to be a port your news provider supports. For example, if you use newshosting, then you can use ports 119, 23, 25, 80, 3128, 7000, 8000, 9000 - the last three are for different routing. I'm using 3128.
